January

In January we had some very strong winds and storms in Yorkshire and across the region. There has been lots of damage to trees in Secker Woods, during these storms and one early morning after a very blustery night, the woods felt tired. The trees were still clacking and creaking, swaying in the now balmy breezes.

At the end of January, when I began this 'project' I wrote and set the lyrics in one day, sadly time is not always on my side, but I hope to work on February's offerings today and then March/April later in the week.

You can hear my setting for January here https://soundcloud.com/charlie-wells-5/after-the-storm

After the Storm

After the storm has passed

The forest heaves,

Leans in on itself.

Sighs leave branches for fallen friends

The mild mannered morning caresses the forest with balmy breezes

Blowing through clouds

Soft round treetops

After the storm has passed

The forest heaves,

Leans in on itself.

Sighs leave branches for fallen friends

Trees whisper through high canopies

Secrets of the storm

Lean in to listen

Clack and creak their tired trunks.

After the storm has passed

The forest heaves,

Leans in on itself.

Sighs leave branches for fallen friends
